Question
I have been feeding my two year old female dog purnia dog food, not the premuim kind. It was recently brought to my attention that this is not the dog food i should be feeding her, due to here constant shedding and dry skin.

i was wondering what type of dry dog food i should be feeding her in your opinion?(beneful?) she is a australian shep., springer span., and bordier collie mix.

thank you

Answer
Unfortunately nothing by Purina is worth feeding to your dog. You're better off feeding the bag. Nothing you can buy at any grocery store or discount store such as wal mart is good for your dog AT ALL.
Go to a good pet store, choose a food with no byproducts no wheat, soy or corn. These are poor sources of nutrtion at best and really just fillers. You pay for them, feed them to your dog and she poops them out. By paying more for a quality premium food you are in actuality paying less because in the end she will eat much less of the premium food once her body becomes accustomed to the fact that she is gaining nutrition from less food. It's much the same as if you had been eating vitamin enriched sawdust covered in a layer of fair food product. You use what is usable and your body rids itself of the rest. So while it makes you feel full, you don't get much from it. Some good choices are Flint River. Wellness. Natural Balance, Canidae, Eagle Pack, and even Chicken Soup for the pet lovers soul is SO much better than what you are feeding now. You will not only save money in the immediate sense by feeding less unusuable product but your dog will be healthier and live a longer much better life.
Good luck!
