help with huskies

Question
Hi, I'm a new husky owner. I have a 1 year old Siberian who seems to be pretty lonely. We have a large yard but it's not fenced in, so we have him on a 60 ft staked down in the middle of the yard. He howls daily and I'm sure it's because he's looking for the company of another dog. We were thinking about getting him a buddy but I'm concerned that since he's so playful, and that we'd get him another husky about the same age, that they would get tangled in each others' lines. My wife and I both work regular business hours so if they were to get tangled in the first 10 min, they would be stranded for hours. Is there a good way to keep 2 huskies in a non-fenced in yard so that they might not get tangled in each others' lines? Or is it inevitable? Please inform. Thanks.

Answer
When it comes to tethering dogs, I am not one of the fanatics at  http://www.dogsdeservebetter.org/home.html  What I have found works fairly well for at least short periods is a short branch near the end of a longer tether.  Kind of a ''Tee'' with a very short cross bar.  I would hate to think about 2 younger dogs left on such a set up all day.

A better solution may be to stick to one dog, but find it a doggy day care.  That would give him supervised companionship all day.
