10 week old chihuahua/w bloody stool

Question
Maggie Sue is a ten week old Chihuahua with bloody stools, and she seems to have gas a lot.
She seems healthy otherwise. I keep taking her to the vet and they just give her diarea meds.
When I tell them she has blood in her stool it's like they don't hear me.
It's usually in the morning. After a couple of bowl movements its pretty normal. She eats and drinks o.k. and plays all the time. Sometimes she does act like she doesn't feel very well, so I give her sugar water(as instructed by the vet)and it seems to help. I'm just really worried about the blood. It is fairly dark and her stomach always looks like it's swollen. Am I worrying too much or should I find another vet?

                             Thank You,

Answer
Hi Linda,

YES......find another Vet!  It is NOT normal for a puppy to have bloody stools!  Was she checked for worms ?  Hookworms could cause a bloody stool, and it can be fatal for a puppy.  There are several different types of parasites that could cause this.  She also could have eaten something that has affected her bowels.  It's hard to say, but this is NOT normal and I can't believe your Vet is not doing something about it, or at least talking to you about the possibilities.
Chihuahua puppies are too small to fool around with.  I'm not trying to scare you,  I just think you definetly need to take her to a Vet who cares.
Good luck and God Bless!
