Question -
My dog was accused of biting a 16 year old on a bike-- is there anyway to confirm that it was her I really feel that it was another dog but who knows. or would be just as well to pay their medical bills and keep the dog up. she is  a very lovable pit mix approx 1 year old. thanks

Unless you can garuntee her whereabouts at the time then there is no way to prove one way or the other.  You can ask for a specialist to look at the wound and see if the bite pattern matches a dog of her size, weight and type.  Other than that you really have to have been with the dog at the time she is accused of biting the child.
If on the otherhand it actually was your dog that bit the child you have to look at whether she was provoked (which can cause even the sweetest dog to snap) and whether it is a situation likely to recurr when making the decision as to whether or not to have her destroyed.
I think you have to talk to the child in question and try and ascertain if he/she could positively identify the dog that bit them.  If they do positively identify your dog then you will be liable for the medical bills.
Hope this helps

normally the state would have a dog bite expert, i would contact your local councillor to try and find out.  A vet could probably tell you but i'm not sure their evidence would hold up in court.

Answer
The only problem with that is that then you will never know for sure whether your dog really did bite the child, thats important because even if the dog was sorely provoked you would still need to consult a behavioural expert to work with your dog and prevent it happening again.
if your dog is cleared of the accusations you would not be liable for legal costs, the family of the child accusing your dog would be.
