Question
Good morning,

I have recently found a dog that has need very neglected. VERY long story short my family of five has just become the proud owners of a one year old, male, Shih Tzu Pomeranian Mix. I have no idea what the dog should look like (He is very over grown and matted everywhere) and he has had no training other than he seems to be house broken. He has had all of his shots and been to a vet. HELP... I would like to know anything and everything about the little guy. I have no other animals just three kids 9, 10, & 12. How would I find out about training him, leaving him alone, what I should feed him, etc.? Any resources would be helpful.

Answer
Well for training usually in the phone book they have a number of dog trainers listed,so calling them up then picking the one that sounds the best to you is the way to go-and since he isn't a problem dog just basic training is needed,it also helps to bond you to the dog

When you are out the best thing to do is to buy a crate and put him in there it is the safest place for him and most of the time he will probably only sleep anyways

Now as for feeding him probably half a cup in the morning, and half a cup at night/evening is probably all that is needed for a small dog-now as for brands the best way to chose is to go to your local petstore(or even a few of them)and ask them what brands they think is best for your dog,as each dog i different, tell them the size, mix and age
