Question
Me and my husband are adopting two Toy Poodles today, and we do not know anything about them like what to feed them, hair, how often do we wash them, what not to do, nothing. Is there anything you can tell me that would help us.We always had Chihuahua's,So this is going to be new for us.Anything you can tell me would be helpful and we thank you for it.

Answer
Your breeder should be able to answer all your questions for you. You should keep them on whatever the breeder is feeding for awhile, and then you can gradually change them over to something else if you wish. I recommend a quality diet from Eagle, Canidae, Wellness, Solid Gold, or Flint River Ranch. The first ingredient should be meat, or preferably meat meal, there should be a minimum of grains, and NO by-products whatsover.

Have the breeder show you how to brush out the dogs as that will be an extremely important part of their daily care. If they are not brushed, their hair will mat up. They should be thoroughly brushed BEFORE bathing and immediately AFTER to avoid matting. Poodles should be professionally groomed every 6-8 weeks, and they can bathed every couple weeks.
