Question
My 5 mos. pocket beagle is having problems walking outside at night. For some reason she is spooked and I can barely get her to walk past our walkway. I have to carry her around the back of our complex where it is a little more lighted but she will walk very quickly back to our door. Do you think carrying a flashlight at night might help? I don't know why she is so scared at night and doesn't want to walk outside.

Answer
I would start with a vet's visit, explaining the problem.  It could also be a fear period that many dogs go through.  In that case, the best thing is not to push  him, or coddle him, just doing what you have to do for the walk and going back in as soon as you can.  Do you have a better lit area available?
