Question
Our 8mth border collie puppy is continually jumping up on anyone who goes near her. We put our hand up and tell her no and it makes no difference. She chews anything she can and we have tried toys to no effect. When we give her bones it causes a fight with our 5yr old dog although the puppy is not the aggressor. We also have trouble getting her to come when we call her which makes it hard when we take her to the dog beach. PLEASE HELP!4

Answer
roslyn,
I am not sure of what is going on here.  I don't think you are giving a bone to an 8 month old pup with an older dog there, are you?  if you are doing this, the consequences could mean a dead pup.  Never give bones to dogs without separating them with a good strong gate or put them in a crate.
Giving a signal that she doesn't understand cannot work.  How have you taught her what that signal with the hand means, when she jumps up step back so she has nothing to land on.  or put a pinch collar and a leash on her and as she jumps step on the leash.  or  fold your arms over your chest and turn your back on her.
Chewing can be boredom or it can be a mineral deficiency.  Try giving her eukanuba puppy food to see if that works..plus give her a vitamin mineral tablet.
You will have to tell me what you have done to teach her what the word 'come' means before I can help you with that.  Let me know asap and I will help you.
border collies are highly intelligent, and need lots of exercise.  If she is bored she will get into trouble,. take her to agility classes so she can express herself.
Let me know the come question and i will get back to you.
