Question
Can puppies eat peppermint candy? I caught my basset hound eating her poop. I didn't catch her in time. Now her breath smells really bad. Is there anything I can do prevent her from eating it? Or give her something for her bad breath?

There are several different commercial products that will help with poop eating. Check your local pet stores. You might have to try several before you find one that works as some seem to work better with some dogs , and some with others. You can also use behavior modification, throw a can filled with pennies NEAR your dog if you catch her eating poop. Do keep the area that your dog pottys in VERY clean. Putting some meat tenderizer on her food is also supposed to help. This is a real problem with hounds who tend to do it more than other breeds. You can give her greenies dog treats for her breath, or activated charcoal. Brushing her teeth, which you should be doing anyway, will also help. Using a premium dog food with no by products, wheat, corn, or soy is another important factor
