mating season problems

hey.. i have got a one and a half year old labrador, i think he is on heat as has become very restless, and barks at any silly thing is there any way i can prevent it until i find a female for mating. how long does the mating season last. he has also started eating more food than he usually eats. i am in a real crisis please help.

Male dogs do not come into heat.  If he is restless, he may be smelling another dog who is in heat.  They can smell a female in heat up to 2 miles away.   The only way to stop him is to neuter him.  
His restlessness may also be boredom or lack of heavy exercise. Why not go bike riding with him and see if it calms him down.
