my crazy chiuaha

each and every night when it's time for bed, my male chiuaha goes crazy and
barks barks barks,he also does it in the morning to wake us up. i have a female
chiuaha as well and she doesn't bark, what do you think is wrong with him?

Hi Ayla,

He barks because he gets something for it. Negative attention is still attention. Try this: get ear plugs and no matter what for at least a week, put them in and do not react when you are doing your pre bedroom cues. Expect it to get louder at first because he will think that you obviously didn't hear him!! But when he finally starts to calm down give him calm attention then and only then. The ear plugs will help you to not react.

The other thing is change the cues, maybe take him for a very long walk before bedtime (weather permitting)or better yet a bit of training to tire him out mentally.

Or look at his diet. Is he on pone of those formulas of food that turn into sugars? Try putting him on a turkey based diet like Canidae or The Honest Kitchen.
