Could I use non scented baby wipes for cleaning my dogs ears instead of the expensive dog ear wipes?

I have never heard anything on that.  I would be very surprised is it wasn't safe.  You might even compare ingredients.  If they don't seem to match, look at some competitive brands and see if you see overlaps.  Most human safe products are safe for dog too.  Chocolate, grapes, Tylenol, and Ibroproifen are some of the exceptions that are not safe for dogs.  

Often you will pay through the nose for a specialty item.
