doggy snot

My friend adopted a female rat terrier mix from the shelter a few days ago.  She is going to the vet in a few days. This morning when she woke up, the dog had dry green snot all over her nose and was coughing. Should she speed up the visit to the vet?

Hey Staci. I would recommend going to the vet sooner. Since this is a shelter dog, she could have a number of things. Such as kennel cough, an upper respiratory infection, distemper, etc. The vet will be able to diagnose & prescribe medication. I would recommend going ASAP especially if she has any other dogs.
