Question
I have got a 2 year old cocker spaniel, very well behaved and nature dog, gets on
with everyone, dogs or humans, when we are at work he gets left in the washing
room, with the door closed, he is only on his own for about 4 hours at a time
but recently has started scratching the door and is making a significant damage,
is there anyway i can stop this, thank you very much, yours sincerely, antonia

Answer
Hi Antonia;
We had the same problem, only it was the back door where they scratched when they wanted to come in.
Our doors are white, so my husband got some sheet metal, and nailed it on the door wgere the damage was, and painted it white.
You had to look real hard to see it.
Keeping his toe nails clipped will help a lot.
If you don't know how to do this, take him to a groomer ( and stay and watch them do the grooming, some groomers are too rough and even mean to the dogs) or have your veterinarian teach you how to do it without cutting into the quick.
It is very important to do it right, or you cause a lot of pain, and can even cripple him.
