Does my Chihuahua need company?

Question
My little chi girl is now 10 mths old. I've had her since she was 3 mths. I work from home on a computer for 8 hrs a day so she's never alone. She wants my attention desperiately on a daily basis and loves our play time. I have been considering purchasing another Chi from the same breeder (another female) so my Chi will have a little more stimulation that I can provide her on a daily basis. My chi would play all day long if I had the time. We walk once or twice a day so she can get out - meet other dogs as well as people. She has a wonderful disposition, but just seems lonely.  My husband say my chi just wants me and that another dog probably will not solve my dogs attention needs. Belive me my chi is my baby and gets loads of attention daily. I just dont want her to be lonely. Will another female chi help keep her interest?  I also travel 2-3 days a month and I though another dog would keep her company - she typically goes to a puppy sitter when I'm gone so she's never alone.  Help?

Answer
Being an only child :) she'll have an adjustment period of course if you get another puppy. But in the end she will be happier and healthier. Dogs are pack animals. Chi's are one of the few breeds that are breed snobbish, they don't much care for dogs of other breeds, so you are smart to want to get one of her own kind ;). At the same time they are very people oriented and you'll have some sibling competition going on there.
Good luck and enjoy
