My dog keeps running away and I dont know how to stop it!!!

Hi! I have a 2 yr. 85 pound golden lab/mix named Charly. Whenever a door is not shut all the way or we accidentally leave one open he bolts out in a split second! It takes anywhere from 10 mins.-2 1/2 hours to catch. He'll keep running and have his nose "glued" to the ground. I follow him with treats(not run after) and he keeps on moving. sometimes he'll stop and look at me and I'll call his name but then he just bolts off again. I get very frustrated and scared he'll get hit by a car! Once I do catch him I make sure to reward for coming back not be mad at him and put him in the crate, but that still doesn't work. It is getting WAY out of hand and I don't know what to do! I have thought about a shock collar... or SOMETHING!! any advice?

If he's not neutered getting him done will reduce wandering,as intact dogs are often looking for females in heat

If that's been done already probably the best thing to do is to take him to a trainer,as a trainer can work one on one with you and show you how to make your dog listen,and how to get your dog to come to you every time,each dog is different so a trainer can show you what will work for your dog
