Question
i have an English and a french bulldog that have been living together for the last 2 years, they have been the best of friend and great playmates they are both about 25 months and have been very loving pets.
here in the last month they have started fighting each other.
at the vets recommendation had them both fixed about two weeks ago,the vet advice that it should take a week for them to calm down.
it is now 14 days and regardless of what i do they can not pass by each other without a big fight breaking up.
i have tried to identify the alpha dog in the relationship and making sure that he get every prevlage first(food, toys attention from us)
do you have any insight at to what i should do

Thanks,

Answer
Neutering usually does work, but it takes longer than one or two weeks for those testosterone levels to drop.

As alpha, you should step in and break things up before they even start. If you pay attention, you will be able to tell when they start eye-balling each other. That is the point at which I would start hollaring at them and tell them to "KNOCK IT OFF!" or risk my wrath.

If there are two people in the house, I would put both of the dogs on training collars and leashes and give each dog a hard pop with the lead every time he looked at the other as I told him to "LEAVE IT!" That dog should then be called back to the handler, told to sit, given a treat, and then praised.

And, of course, there is always a chance that things will never work out with those two. That can happen. If that is the case you might have to place one of them.
