Question
I have a female 2yr. old pug, she has already have 2 healthy litters of pups, only one pup out of 5 didn't make it. I didn't want to breed her again for about a yr. but I missed her cycle and she might be pregnant again. Do you think it is ok for her to breed again this soon or should I take her to a vet? please let me know

Answer
Three litters by the age of two is a LOT, in my opinion. Most of us don't start breeding until around the age of two as the bitch needs time to grow up and mature. If she is pregnant, I don't know if I would terminate the pregnancy (unless it is a mixed-breed litter), but if you want to be a breeder, you really need to keep track of everything better to avoid the added stress on the bitch. Being pregnant and nursing takes a LOT out of a dog and they need time to recover. I don't believe in breeding a bitch more than once a year, and she is usually retired by the age of five (if not sooner).
