will my dog forget me?

My family and I bought our dog when he was a puppy. When he was only 1 year old we had to up and move and leave him with family to come and get settled. Our apartment facility didn't allow big dogs. he hasn't seen me in a few months. I am about ready to fly him home to me. Will he remember us?

Thank you for writing to me.

Your dog will always remember you!  If he acts aloof, it is only because he may think that you left him behind because he did something wrong, much the way small children think, so give him time to warm up to you.  It would help to have some treats in your hand!

I hope that you will always take care of him and always make sure he has a loving home, even when he is old and tired.
