Question
Recently my brother passed away, living my mother a 120 pound rottwiler which she feeds and talks to. I am the only one who can bath the dog and take him to the vet. I have never owned a dog of this kind ever. Does a rottwiler try to become Alpha with his owner each time? The only problem has been he tries to get the upper hand each time I come over by growling. When I scold him he shuts up. I just wanted to know a little about the behavior of the breed

Answer
Robert:

Here are some resources for you. I can not offer assistance with dominance problems or growling because of legal concerns with red line agression problems, but if it continues I highly suggest speaking with a profesional trainer that can be on site with you. And no, it is a myth that "power breeds" like rotties, dobies, 'pitbulls', mastiffs, etc, always turn on their owners. It is a matter of poor breeding and training that creates problem dogs.
