feed in crate?

Question
I am currently crate training my 4 month old Victorian bulldog. I read 2 different things on putting the food /water dish in the cage with him ,some books and websites say do put it in and some say don not... he walks into the crate on his own with and with out his food/water dish in there ... so should I just leave it out of his crate or leave it in....right now I leave it in, since he's in his crate from 4-5 hours at a time while I am at work.

Answer
Hi Edward;
He will need to have a blowel movement after he eats, so if you could feed him, and let him eliminate before putting him in the crate, and just leave water for him in the crate, than feed as soon as you get home. He should be alright for that length ot time without food in with him, but he will need water.
I would train him to pee on a puppy pad, and put one in the crate with him, because he will probably drink, and have to urinate in that length of time.
