Min Pin not having her heat

I have a 2yr. female choc. min pin, and it seems like she hasn't gone into heat for more than 6mths. I'm worried, she just recently had her dew claws removed and i don't know if that might have something to do with it. Is this normal or is it in her best interest to take her to her vet?

Hello Amanda, It is quite normal for small breeds to only have 1 heat a year, typically yes they do go into heat every 6 months, but 9 months or even 12 months would not be abnormal.  Having her dew claws removed should not have any barring on her heat cycle.  I would just watch and mark your calendar so that you might be able to get a pattern for future reference.
