QuestionMy Labs back foot had a crack or cut in the pad is there anything we can do before taking him to the vet?
AnswerHi John, Normally pads bleed really bad, and normally need stitches to stop the bleeding, if the bleeding is stopped, then you basically need to keep the pad from splitting open again. Vets can put compression bandages on the pad to keep it together. So in the long run you would probably need to take him to the vet eventually unless the pad stays together on its own. Of course, you do need to keep it clean and putting triple antibiotic ointment on it wouldn't hurt it. Hope this helps,
Dawn
