Dog boarding cause weight loss?

Question
Hi,

I just have a quick question. I am the proud owner of a 5 year old min pin and a 2 year old Manchester terrier. Over the Christmas holidays I boarded them both together for 13 days. I picked them up today and although they were very happy, and healthy, I noticed they both lost weight. The min pin was overweight when I left him, so I was surprised and happy to see he lost a few pounds. The Manchester was perfect weight and now, her spine, hips and ribs are visible. I don't suspect the Kennel did anything wrong, in fact they said they actually increased their food intake because they were still hungry. I know some dogs can lose weight during boarding but how much weight is typical? My min pin has been boarded before but has never lost this amount of weight in such a short period of time. Should I be concerned about the Manchester?
Thanks for your time.

Answer
Well,I have worked in a boarding kennel for 3 years-and have seen this a number of times,a lot of times it can be stress, but also constant running back and forth

There is no amount of weight that is typical,as I have seen it in all sizes of dogs, but usually we say lossing about 10% of the body weight is normal, and as long as they gain weight at home,it's really nothing to worry about
