pet insurance in the US

Dear Dawn,
I  will soon be moving to the USA with two dogs and two cats. The dogs are small 1. yorks terrier and 1 maltese.
The cats are street cats.
What insurance would you reccomend to cover all these animals? soemtimes when I brought my cat into the vet I´d invariably  leave with a $100 bill --too much at the end of the year --with 4 animals--got any reccomendations please?

Hi Rebecca,  I really don't have a favorite.  They all have their pro's & con's.  It also depends on where you plan on living.  Banfield insurance is run through PetSmart pet stores, and is a preventitve type insurance, but I don't know if they are on the east coast.  VIP is  popular, but I would really read the fine print of their policies to see what would fit your particular needs.  Some are good for one pet, but too much for more than one and vice versa.  I would search online for pet insurances and then find a vet in the area you are moving to that will take the insurance you are signing up for.  Wish I could be of more help, but they all have their own good points & bad points, it really just depends on what you need.
