lick granuloma

Question
I have a german shorthair that is very sweet.  SHe developed this lick habit and I have been doing a lot to break it- exercise, boredom busters, wtc.  I have managed to wrap her leg so the sore is unavailable but she manages to rub or oick at the wrap  enough ao the sore still does not heal and now there are irritated areas above and below the wrapped area due to the rubbing of the wrap/tape (not onthe skin) or from her worrying the area.  I am concerned I am making things worse, not better.  I am considereing having the vet cast the area until it is healed.  Any ideas?

Answer
Hi Jean :-)

I would consider getting your Dog a cone so this will stop her from licking the affected area. I had to do this with my own Dog in a similar situation.

Also ask your Vet to prescribe some cream and ointment to apply to the area to prevent infection setting in from the licking your Dog has been doing. Meanwhile, purchase some Daktacort Cream from your Pharmacist and use this twice a day to the affected area and this will kill all bacteria, fungal and yeast infections. If you notice a reaction with this Cream, then wash the Cream off thoroughly and don't use it again. It's unlikely there will be a reaction but just incase I added the above sentence. :-)

Take care and all the best and please leave me a comment.
