female dog w/ teat discharge

My 4 year old Pekingese appeared to have enlarged teats and I was concerned that she was possibly pregnant.However, I am still not sure, but when squeezing her teat I noticed a clear, thick oily substance that discharges, which is odorless. It resembles the appearance of caster oil. Is there a diagnosis for this particular problem?

You do not mention if your bitch is spayed or intact, but I will assume that she is intact. If she had access to a male 7-8 weeks ago, she could be pregnant. If she did not, then she is probably having a false pregnancy. Symptoms can be identical for both, including discharges and incoming colostrum/milk. Your vet should be able to tell you which it is.

The only way to prevent false pregnancies is to spay the bitch.
