Hello me again, My 3 year old spayed Labrador reteriver is getting overweight yet agin she is still on Authroity lite from petsmart and still given the same amount as when she lost weight before I cant feed her less I'm already feeding for weight loss and she still gains weight...she doesnt go near table scraps or trash cans/kitty litter pans or anything of that sort she doesnt get to my other dogs kibble and only gets low fat biscuts about one every day or two...small to meuimd sized and a rawhide once or twice a week again small or meduim sized for her teeth and oh she also gets a peddigree dental X about once a week or less. she is only walke dof ten minutes a day and is crated most of my day at work thou my mother does let her and my other dogs out to pee and what not and she runs in the yar dwith my oother diogs daily and i play frissbeee with her and my other dogs on weekends but she still is overweight her ribs need to be poked deeply to feel adn her wasit is disapering...her weight problem is worse then mine lol I am at my wicks end with her weight issues what should i do? should she be walked after work as well...how long? any insight would be great. thanks Labman.

I can only advise less food or more exercise.  She is mature now, perhaps less active, and may need fewer calories.  Just do whatever you can make work.

I would cut out the rawhide and dental.  I don't trust any consumable chews.  They all get gnawed down too quickly to the point a dog could choke or have intestinal blockages from them.  There is a big lawsuit going on now over ''Greenies''.

The pet stores are full of toys that many dogs will quickly chew up into
pieces they could choke on or cause intestinal blockages.  If you are not
there to watch, stick to sturdy stuff such as Nylabones and Kongs.  Keep a
close eye on chew toys and quickly discard anything that is coming apart in
pieces.  Rawhide is especially bad because it swells after being swallowed.
These problems are the worst with, but not limited to, large, aggressive
chewers such as Labs.
