red eyed dog!

hi!
my dog's one eye have been really red for 2 days.
is there anything i can do?
do i need to go see the vet?
he eats good, urinates well...
just little swollen with redness.
is this a urgent condition?

Hi Eddie,
I don't know if I would call this an urgent condition, but it definetley needs to be treated. Any eye infection can result in permanent damage if not treated. Some cases will require antibiotics to clear up the condition.  You can put some over the counter artificial tears in his eye to see if that will help soothe it. Another soothing thing you can do is put a warm compress on it.  Use a soft, clean cloth soaked in lukewarm water. Wring it out, and lightly press on his eye for about five minutes. If his eye is still red tomorrow, I would advise you take him to a Vet.  He may very well need antibiotics and not treating it will only make it worse.
