feeding medicine to aggressive dog

Question
my alsatian was brought home after her horrible 9month life as a stray one.she had a bad bad master, somedays not fed.
after 4months of her being here, she had both intestinal and uterine infections, for which she needed anti biotics.
we gave her one injection, and she was too violent, trying to rid of her mask and chain.
so we got to tablets.
i ahd initially tried feeding her closing her mouth, but she tried to snap.
now if i give her in liquid food, she doesnt take.
if i give her in solid food, she smells it out.and leaves the part of medicine.

i am really depressed.
i dont know how to feed her.its too essential.she is aggressive, and i fear too.

plese tell me a method to effectively feed her tabs so that some are not wasted.

Answer
Hi Tara,

Try this:

2 pieces of steak (yes steak) big enough to completely cover the pill. Have both in your hand. Give the her the one with the pill and immediately offer the other one so she will quickly swallow the first one.

I would also add some plain yogurt to her food if she has been on anti biotics long term. It will help the digestive enzymes that are being wiped out by the antibiotics.

The other thing you may want to consider is acclimating her to a muzzle in case she does need to go to the vet. If she is familiar with it it will be one less stressor at the vet. I would try and get an agitation muzzle and smear the inside with cheese paste and have her lick it out without attaching it to her face.
