Question
i have a german shepherd puppy who is 4 months old. ahe is underweight but her growth is ok. My vet suggested me to give her proteins and calcium but even they have not proved useful. she is still very weak.. there is no sign of improvement. please suggest me what can be done.
I am from India and the weather here is hot.

Thank you.

Answer
I'm not sure what you mean by "weak". That implies that something is wrong with her health, and the veterinarian should give her a thorough exam to determine the cause.

Underweight generally means that the dog has worms/bacterial infection or the dog is not getting enough food to eat. Have a stool sample examined by your vet, and increase her food rations. Puppies at this age eat an enormous amount of food... nearly twice as much as they will eat as an adult.

Feed a quality diet whose first ingredient is a specified meat protein (preferably a meat meal, has no by-products, and few grains, and contains no menadione bisulfate (source of vitamin K activity). http://www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=menadione
