Question
We have a 14 Year old Norwegian Elkhound named Misty.  She has lost a lot of weight and doesn't seem to be able to put any on.  We fear she is approaching her end.  However, in the last couple weeks she has been "exploring" a bit in the house.  Climbing behind the entertainment center, under the coffee table, or under our dinning room table.  She had never done this before...she not simply lost, because she almost contorts herself to get in.  Thanks for any explanation you may have.

Geoff

Answer
Hi Geoff;
She is probably just trying to find a comfortabke place to be, maybe she has Arthritis etc pain, and is trying to get easy, maybe she just wants more solitude.
She may just be very anxious because she knows she is getting old and can't do all she could before.
14 is on up there in years, and if she doesn't have a bit of arthritis, it would be a wonder.
My senior dogs get a lot of comfort and pain relief from a massage.
I have used the Tellington0Touch methid of animal massage for years to give relief from pain, and to calm them and cure fears, and some bad habits like excessive barking etc.
It is an invaluable too, and I have really put it to good use.
Especially for pain relief, and just making them easier.
I bought a video to learn how to do the different massages.
You can read about the massages, and what can be done with them, and you can also order videos to learn how to do them, from this address.
