Yellow marks on my dogs legs

Question
Hi Becky! I just got a puppy German Shepherd. He's only 7 weeks old. We have an appointment with the vet on August 14th. I haven't taken him since I got him on July 22nd, because the breeder took him to the vet the day before and he had all his first shots. Anyway, I noticed some round yellow marks in the inside part of his hind legs. I'm not sure if they are moles or mosquito bites or something else. I think they might be mosquito bites since we spent a lot of time outside and at around 6pm we come inside the house because the amount of mosquitos is unbearable. Please let me know what you think. Should I change my appointment with the vet so that he can take a look at the marks??

Thanks!

Answer
Hi Susana,
I bet he is adorable. I just love baby German Shepherds, they are so cute.
I don't think you really would need to change your appointment.  It wouldn't hurt to see how it does in the next few weeks. I am doubtful that it is mosquitos. Can you tell if they are pus filled?  Is he losing any hair around his eyes?  If so, then it may be mange.  If not, then it could be a type of allergy or infection.  I would watch it closely and if it spreads , then you may want to get an earlier appointment. If it does not, then keep your appointment and show your Vet.
If you have mosquitos that bad, be sure and put him on a hearworm prevention.

God Bless,
Becky
