puppie peeing

i have a 5 month old pom/shitzu, when i first bought him i crated him at night and some times during the day, still he pees in the house. i moved out of my moms house and into an apartment on the 3rd floor. he pees in the house in the same 4 spots regularly, he has been getting a little better and whining at the door when he needs to pee but its gotten to the point when my boyfriend has woken up to stepping in it and the dog peed a little on the corner of the couch, he wants me to train the dog or get rid of it, only i have no idea what to do and he wont let him back until hes trained, I've heard neutering helps and i cant crate him as I'm at work from 7-4:30 mon-fri..I'm lost and need help!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well what you do need to do is to in fact crate him more-it isn't cruel and the shelter I volunteer at recommends it,in fact we recommend you keep the dog in the crate,except to feed it and take it outside

So you can put him in the crate when you are at work and let him out as soon as you get home-he'll just sleep all day
