Breathing issue

Question
I have a 2 year old schnauzer and there have been occasions were for 1 or 2 minutes straight my dog will breath very hard like it is trying to catch his breath.  I am very worried about this because my fiance's schnauzer has had a seizure and really hasn't recovered all the way.  Should I be worried about this condition or is this normal? Is this a sign that he might have a sickness?

Thanks

Answer
This all depends on what you consider "breathing very hard". Some schnauzers make a sort of honking noise called "revere sneezing", in which they sound like they are trying to clear the mucus from their nasal passages. I had one male who used to do this, and I would sort of "pound" the top of his shoulders with my cupped hand and he would quit. It really doesn't mean much (he lived to a very old age).

Now if you really mean breathing hard like he cannot catch his breath, he needs to be seen by a veterinarian as it could be something serious, and only a vet can make that determination.
