Emergency medication

Question
It is Thanksgiving day and my dog has puss discharge from his penis.  Can I give him Penicillin>

Answer
Since I once had a dog go into anaphylactic shock and nearly die from penicillin given at the vet's, I would be most hesitant to apply that myself. If you think this is an emergency, you should go to an emergency clinic with your dog. Otherwise, it can probably wait until tomorrow.

I had a male with a similar issue as yours, and he was treated with Panalog (now Dermalone). The ointment was squirted into his sheath a couple times a day, massaged around as the opening was held closed, and then allowed to drain (this MUST be done outside as it is a horrible mess).
