Question
I have a three year old male neutered boxer. I need some advise on what another good breed choice would be for a soul mate. At the vet's office he shows aggression with other dogs his size, so that kind of rules out another boxer, but do you think it would be different if I got a boxer as a pup? Plus I have three kids so I was kind of wanting a smaller family dog. Any suggestions??? My daughter fancies the "pug", but in my research I have noticed alot pugs at the shelters that has kids with a line through it. We are highly active and need a dog that is active with us like Romeo is.

Answer
Hi,
Yes I think it would be different if you got a pup  ONLY if the pup is a female.  Male boxers do not get along with other male dogs.  They are too protective.  So If you like boxers then get a female,  If you want something smaller, I would STILL STICK with a female, but maybe a Bichon, or miniature poodle or female schnauzer.  Those dogs get along with other dogs. A female Boston Terrier might work, A Brittany spaniel will work, and if I think of more I will let you know.  However I would NOT get a pug or Lhasa or Shih tzu,  they aren't good with kids. A cavalier king Charles is good too. The best of the above with children would be the Bichon, schnauzer, cavalier, and Brittany
