yeah I just had dog a rat terrier that is 2 or 3 years of age. she had puppies last night when we were sleeping. she had them at 56 days of pregnancy. and she is not giving milk yet and she is not even bagging. her tits are saggy. she only had one that is alive right know. she had 5 all together. will the milk come later or not.I tried giving it some milk replacement but really didn't go down to good. what can I do can I give the mama dog something.
please let me know this the first this ever happened in my rat terrier.

That is very unusual, Sandy. I would take her and the surviving pup to the vet ASAP. She could have an infection or something that is keeping her from producing milk, and the vets can give the puppy fluids and milk to help keep it alive if it's struggling. When the puppies are first born, the mother should have produced milk that is called colostrum, which is filled with antibodies to help keep the puppies from getting diseases like parvo. After the first day, regular milk should begin to 'flow.'

I would seriously consider having her spayed if I were you.
