Dobes are wonderful dogs. They are wrongfully showed as agressive, fearless dogs in the movies...but in reality, they are a very docile breed. Sometimes they can actually be scaredy cats and nervous. Training is too long of a subject to cover as there are many different methods and you need to find what works for your individual dog. You must, with any breed, make sure they know that you are the Alpha.  You must be the pack leader.  Please read Cesar Millans book.  He is the Dog Whisperer and has a show on the National Geographic channel on Friday nights...check him out. He specializes in the power breeds.  As far as vacinations, general puppy shots, and rabies. There are other shots such as bordatella that your vet may suggest. You state may also require certain shots..(Wisconsin requires rabies only). Check with a local vet.  I would definitely consider a Dobe for a pet.
