Question
My fiances 3 year old English Springer Spaniel is the other love of my life.  Only problem is that he picks every piece of furniture that we have because my fiance raised him on the couch.  The dog will not let us trim his nails, we have to take him to the vet.  Even the vet can't get them short enough to save my furniture and training him to do opposite of how he was raised is not working.  What can I do besides covering my beautiful furniture with gaudy blankets and isn't it a little extreme to have him declawed like a cat?

Answer
Hello Natalie, I have one suggestion for you.  A product called Soft Claws.  You can find this at www.petedge.com or maybe your local pet stores carry them.  You apply them over the dogs nail, they are rubber, an this will help from damaging the furniture.  They stay on approx. 4 weeks.  You still have to trim the nails, but this takes away the scratching and snagging of furniture.  Good luck and Thanks for asking, Cindy Lou :)
