INDUCING HEAT CYCLE

QUESTION: I'M LOOKING FOR THE NAME OR NAMES OF MEDICATION(S) THAT I CAN GIVE MY BITCH TO INDUCE HER HEAT CYCLE.THANKS

ANSWER: The only thing I am aware that is safe, is to have your vet give her a hormone shot.  The other thing that works, though, is bringing her around other dogs that are in heat or going into heat.

When I called my vet to ask the name of the shot he had given my dog years ago...He said they don't use it anymore, due to many side affects....Oh well. sorry.  It was an estrogen/progesterone shot.  He asked me if your dog has not come into heat or if you just wanted to bring her in earlier for breeding purposes.  He told me if she hasn't been in heat in a long time to have her thyroid checked.  You didn't tell me the purpose so I am sending this extra info for you....If the thyroid is not working correctly it would have an influence on the heat cycle.
He said they don't have a shot or medicine to bring them into heat earlier that is safe.  sorry for the incorrect information.
