rib bones

Hi Becky, Last night my brother in law fed my 3 yr old dachshund  beef rib bones.  He has thrown up twice.  I have fed him 2 pieces of bread and waiting to see what happens.  Last time he vomited there where pieces of bone in it.  Should I try to find a vet that is open today?

If you can find a Vet open today, and there probably is one, I would take him in.  If he is bringing up pieces of bone, then there may be sharp pieces that could puncture his intestines.  This could be a very dangerous situation.  People don't realize how harmful giving dogs bones can be.  Unless it is a beef roast bone type, the kind that is very hard and thick, then don't ever give bones.  But I know you realize that.  If it were me, I would at least call a Vet and get his/her advice.  It's better to be safe than sorry!  And tell your brother in law that you will be sending him a bill if you have to take him to a Vet!  lol
I hope it turns out ok, I don't mean to scare you because he may pass it ok, but there is the chance that it can cause problems.
