Holistic treatments for Demodex

Are there any holistic treatments for Demodex in dogs that you would recommend? What do you recommend for pet parents who are reluctant to have there puppy 'dipped' in Amitrax?

Hi Emmy,

Thank you for writing to me about your dog's condition.  I am not familiar with a particular treatment that is an alternative for Demodex in dogs, but I do know where to send you for those answers.

Dr. Newkirk at Margate Animal Hospital in Margate NJ.  He will work with you long distance.  He's an excellent alternative vet. Please tell him that I recommended you.

Some people recommend Tea Tree Oil but this is toxic for dogs and I do not encourage it's use.  It is true that it is an ingredient in some shampoos but if you check google for tea tree oil and danger, there is a lot of information that will come up regarding this.

I do think that Dr. Newkirk will be your answer.
