Question
We just adopt a chow/lab mix that has been living in our vet's kennel for the past 4 months because her previous owner broke her two front legs.
She is 8 months old and is always looking for food, everywhere in just after been fed.How do I break that?
My husband works a lot from home and she stays in her cage in his office but doesn't want to go outside with him.
He takes her for a walk in the morning and she is fine with that. When I get home from work, she canes out of the cage if I call and go play outside.
We just have her for 2 days but I would like some guidance to do the right think.

Answer
I don't know about Chows, but that is quit typical of Labs.  There isn't much you can do about it.  Here is a link to a picture of one of mine at about that age a couple of hours before dinner, http://www.photolocker.net/images/Labman/zekeandtheproplan.jpg  He inherited the eating habits the earned his grandfather the name Hoover.

Do not let its greed lead you to overfeeding, see http://www.longliveyourdog.com/twoplus/RateYourDog.aspx  Also Labs do better on an early switch to adult chow.  Go ahead now if on a puppy chow.
