re: puppy eating plant

our puppy ate a ruellia plant, has had loose bowels since has anyone had any experience with this?  vet said to wait a few days and see if it clears up?

Puppies will eat absolutely anything, so you must be careful about that. I would suggest you check all your outside plantings and any houseplants you might have and keep your puppy away from the toxic ones (or better yet... move them elsewhere). http://www.ansci.cornell.edu/plants/

The only thing I could find on the ruellia plants is that they cause decreased heart rate and coronary flow. Not exactly the best thing for a puppy to get into, but not really poisonous either (although I suppose they could be deadly if one ate enough of them). http://www.medicaljournal-ias.org/5_1/Akhtar.pdf
