We are considering purchasing a toy fox terrier and not sure between male or female....What is the temperment between the both I heard females are more gentle...

Generally, in most breeds, the males tend to be more sweet and loving, and the bitches tend to be more independent. I think gentleness depends on the individual. Shop for that "perfect" individual for your family, not a specific dog.

I once thought I only wanted bitches in my life, and then that perfect male came into my life. Now I prefer the boys to the girls.
