dog compatiblity

Question
We have a 5 year old, female Airedale.  We are considering getting a Welsh Terrier puppy.  Do you have any insight as to how they may get along and also would there be any advantage/disadvantage to getting a male or female.

It really depends on the individual dogs involved, but generally the best mix is male/female (if the bitch is spayed) as males usually defer to the bitches and let them have the last word. Two of one sex can work out if both dogs are at different levels of dominance... ie. one more dominant and one more submissive.

Introduce them in neutral territory... away from home.
