Can Diet cause tempory color change in Dalmations?

Question
Hello,

I like this web site.

I have a 16 year old Dalmation, male, non-neutered.

About four or five times over Stewart's 16 years he developed orange patches on the sides of his body.  These were liver shaped and identical. One on each side of his chest, over his rib cage.  They were faint at first, a light orange, and got darker over a few day period and then went away.  It happened a handful of times, about 2 or 3 years apart and hasn't happened at all in the last five years.  The first time it happened my vet said it was probably something he ate.  My dog eats a combination of dry and canned dog food once a day and then eats about 1/5 of whatever I'm eating also.  He is still active and is skinny (he's always been skinny even though he eats a lot of people food).

I am curious now about these spots as he has developed a similar pair of off-colored patches. These two patches are brownish - tan and are on the sides of his face, right next to his eyes, and extend back to his ears. They are about the size of twelve inch softballs.

Like before, there seem to be no other symptoms.  No itching or pain or discomfort. No noticable loss of energy, although he is 16 years old so he doesn't do much, but he still seems happy and as chipper as an old dog can be.

Do you know anything about temporary color changes in a white dogs fur?  Is there a vitamine or supplement that might help?

Thanks,

Ray Bellon & Stewart

Answer
Hi Ray,

I have seen this before in white dogs and your vet is right, it may be something in his diet that could have caused a color change.  I have a supplement that works as an Immune System builder that I love and recommend to all pet owners.  It's NuVet Plus and you can order it at www.nuvet.com/42299 or by calling 800-474-7044 and use order code 42299.  It safe, natural and it's guaranteed to help or your money back.  I suggest calling them at NuVet and ask how you can receive a 15% discount on your order.  Give it a try for a full 60 days and let me know how you liked the product.
