absess

I have a 8 yr old syberian husky, she has a large red swollen absess between her paws... how harmful is this to her and how can I treat it...

You could try soaking the foot in warm water and hotpacking it, but she really should be seen by a veterinarian. She certainly needs to be on antibiotics; infections need to be treated.

She might have a foxtail in there, and if that is the case, it needs to come out. A friend of mine had one in her sheltie's foot last fall, and it eventually worked its way all the way through the foot and came out the top after several months. The dog was in a lot of pain while the foxtail was in his foot.
