Daschund vs Backpack

I have a daschund and I am aware that they often have spinal problems later on in life. I was wondering whether or not it would be a good idea to you a doggy backpack on our walks. Would this strengthen her back, or weaken it?

Before I consider answering your question, I hope you don't mind if I ask a question. :-)

I'm wondering why you feel the need to strengthen your Dachshund's back and want to backpack your dog?  Is your doing so on the advice of a vet or other canine professional?
